Position Overview:
The Category Manager plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing product categories to meet customer needs and achieve business objectives. This position requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the category management process.
Key Responsibilities:
· Category Strategy: Develop and execute category strategies aligned with overall business objectives, including assortment planning, pricing strategy, and promotional activities.
· Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape within assigned product categories.
· Supplier Management: Identify and onboard suppliers/vendors, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong relationships to ensure product availability and quality.
· Inventory Management: Monitor and optimize inventory levels, including forecasting demand, managing stock levels, and minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
· Sales and Performance Analysis: Analyze sales performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify opportunities for growth and improvement within assigned categories.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and operations, to align category strategies with overall business objectives.
· New Product Development: Identify market gaps and opportunities for new product development or innovation within assigned categories.
· Promotional Planning: Plan and execute promotional campaigns, including discounts, promotions, and marketing initiatives, to drive sales and maximize category performance.
· Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies within assigned categories, and identify and mitigate risks as needed.
· Customer Engagement: Monitor customer feedback, address product-related issues or concerns, and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction within assigned categories.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
· Proven experience (4+ years) in category management, retail merchandising, or related field, with a track record of driving category growth and profitability.
· Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
· Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills, with experience in contract negotiation and vendor relationship management.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software for data analysis and presentation.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
· Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving business results and achieving objectives.

Desired Skills:
· Experience in the industry, with knowledge of industry trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape.
· Familiarity with category management tools and software, such as Nielsen, IRI, or JDA.
· Certification in category management or related field (e.g., Certified Professional Category Analyst).
· Experience with e-commerce platforms and online retailing, including knowledge of online merchandising strategies and tactics.
· Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing practices within product categories, with a commitment to responsible business practices.
